“Uneducated” is the term Ladda uses to describe Thai filmgoers. “They’re not intellectuals — that’s why we need ratings,” she says.

“Nobody goes to see films by Apichatpong,” she says. “Thai people want to see comedy. We like a laugh.”

คำถามที่สงสัยคือว่า “กลุ่มเฝ้าระวังทางวัฒนธรรม” มีหน้าที่ทำอะไรกันแน่ มีหลักเกณฑ์อะไรในการคัดเลือกคนมาทำงาน ถึงได้แต่งตั้งคนที่มีความคิดตื้นเขินแบบนี้เป็นถึงระดับผู้อำนวยการ

สิ่งที่น่าวิตกไม่ใช่เรื่องการเปลี่ยนแปลงของวัฒนธรรมอย่างรวดเร็วในปัจจุบันนี้หรอก แต่เป็นการที่เราปล่อยให้ความรับผิดชอบมันตกอยู่ในมือของคนพรรค์นี้ต่างหาก
